Chinese Gas-Insulated Switchgear Enterprises CNKEEYA Secure Large-Scale Repeat Order from Turkey, Multi-Unit Products Boost Grid Upgrade

Recently, a domestic power transmission and distribution equipment manufacturer CNKEEYA announced that it has successfully secured a large-scale repeat order from a major Turkish power operator, covering the full range of 35kV gas-insulated switchgear products including 3-unit, 4-unit, and 5-unit models. These equipment will be mainly used in the Istanbul urban power grid expansion project and the Ankara new urban area power distribution project, marking a breakthrough of Chinese gas-insulated switchgear products in the Turkish market with their high reliability and customization capabilities.

It is understood that the Turkish customer is a leading local power infrastructure service provider. In 2023, it purchased 3-unit gas-insulated switchgear for the first time for the renovation of coastal substations along the Mediterranean Sea. The equipment has operated stably for 18 consecutive months in high salt spray and high temperature difference environments with zero failure rate. Its fully sealed and maintenance-free features have greatly reduced the customer's operation and maintenance costs, becoming a key factor for this repeat order. The amount of this repeat order is expected to exceed 22 million yuan RMB, an increase of 150% compared with the scale of the first cooperation. The newly added 4-unit and 5-unit products will further meet the customer's needs for complex power grid scenarios.

The three types of products to be delivered this time have their own technical characteristics: the 3-unit gas-insulated switchgear adopts a compact modular design, integrating load switches, grounding switches and cable inlet and outlet modules, with a cabinet depth of only 1.2 meters, which is particularly suitable for the space renovation of power distribution rooms in old urban areas; the 4-unit product adds a busbar section module and has a bidirectional power supply switching function, which will be deployed in the power supply system of the extended section of Istanbul Metro Line 3 to ensure continuous power supply for rail transit; the high-end 5-unit model integrates vacuum circuit breakers, voltage transformers and intelligent monitoring units, supporting remote control and fault diagnosis, and will serve Turkey's first smart energy demonstration zone project. All three types of products use 3mm thick stainless steel gas tanks, filled with high-purity SF6 insulating gas, with a protection level of IP67, and can operate stably in extreme environments from -35℃ to +40℃.

As a core market for power equipment consumption in Central and Eastern Europe, Turkey's demand for high-performance gas-insulated switchgear has been continuously rising in recent years due to accelerated urbanization and new energy grid connection needs. According to industry analysis data, the market size of medium-voltage gas-insulated switchgear in Turkey reached 250 million US dollars in 2024, of which 35kV products accounted for more than 60%. Chinese enterprises have increased their share in the local market from 12% in 2022 to 18% in 2024 by virtue of their technical cost-effectiveness advantages.
